Prince Hassan bin Talal Visits the Politics and Society Institute and Discusses with Experts the Importance of Think Tanks in National Development

His Royal Highness Prince Hassan bin Talal visited the Politics and Society Institute on Wednesday to review its key achievements and research and intellectual programs, in the presence of a distinguished group of researchers, writers, and thought leaders. During the meeting, His Royal Highness emphasized the importance of this intellectual gathering, underscoring that a strong intellectual foundation constitutes a primary starting point for any process of development, particularly within research centers and the field of public policy-making.
His Royal Highness also addressed the role of artificial intelligence and modern technologies in supporting scientific research, pointing to the potential for their application across various sectors, including agriculture, through the development of technical tools that could contribute to the establishment of a national registry for farmers in Jordan, thereby enhancing planning efficiency and sustainability.
Prince Hassan further stressed the importance of integration among peoples, affirming in this context that “a human being does not abandon his fellow human being,” in reference to the humanitarian and ethical dimensions of collective cooperation.
In his remarks on youth, His Royal Highness highlighted the necessity of engaging young people in various dialogues and called for a commitment to moderation and absolute objectivity in discourse and debate. He emphasized that the human dimension constitutes the foundational pillar of any sustainable development or progress, stressing the importance of directing such meetings toward youth and grounding them in honesty in dialogue and public action.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Politics and Society Institute hosted an intellectual seminar entitled “The Role of Think Tanks in National Development in Jordan,” with the participation of a number of Jordanian think tanks, research and study centers, alongside a group of experts and specialists in intellectual and policy affairs. The seminar discussed the role of think tanks in supporting the national development process, enhancing evidence- and knowledge-based public policy-making, and the importance of integration between research institutions and decision-makers.
At the conclusion of the visit, His Royal Highness toured the Institute’s departments and reviewed its working mechanisms and research programs, commending the Institute’s role in promoting intellectual dialogue and supporting policies grounded in research and knowledge.
It is worth noting that the Politics and Society Institute was established in 2020 as a Jordanian think tank operating under a “Think and Do” model that integrates research with practical policy engagement, combining research and analysis on the one hand with the design and implementation of dialogue-based, training, and capacity-building programs on the other, with the aim of contributing to the support of public policy and the promotion of knowledge-based national development.
